How to Process a Cryptocurrency Transaction

How to Buy or Sell Cryptocurrency on Catalyx

Catalyx now offers 2 options for purchasing and selling Cryptocurrencies, a Market Order option and a Limit Order option.

The difference between the two are as follows:

  • A Limit Order means that you set the price and size for the order (to buy or sell) and it will remain in an open status until those parameters are met, at which time the transaction will be filled.

  • A Market Order means you are wanting to buy (or sell) a certain amount of Crypto at the best price available at that moment.

Q1. How to place a BUY transaction- Limit Order

  • Go to the 'Trade' page

  • Click on the CAD-BTC drop down option on the left hand side, to select from one of the base currencies available- CAD, BTC, ETH, USDT

  • Now search and select the digital currency (Crypto) that you wish to purchase

  • On the Order Form- Select the 'Buy' action, then select the 'Limit' option below it.

  • Now enter the 'BID Price'. The is the price you would like to purchase the Crypto for, keeping in mind that the current 'Bid Price' (located above the Market Chart), is what the Crypto is selling for on the market, at that moment.

  • Now enter the quantity of the Crypto you would like to purchase at that rate, in the 'Quantity' section.

  • Displayed in the 'Total Bid' section is the estimated amount it will cost you in CAD/Fiat in order to buy that Crypto.

  • Please verify the information you entered is correct, and click 'Place Order'.

  • This order will now sit as an 'Open Order', until all the criteria you set for the transaction is met, at which time it will then be fulfilled. All Open Orders, and partially filled orders can be found on your Dashboard, under 'Open Orders', or in the 'Open Orders' tab on the selected Cryptocurrency trade page.

Q2. How to place a BUY transaction- Market Order

  • Go to the 'Trade' page

  • Click on the CAD-BTC drop down option on the left hand side, to select from one of the base currencies available- CAD, BTC, ETH, USDT

  • Now search and select the digital currency (Crypto) that you wish to purchase

  • On the Order Form- Select the 'Buy' action, then select the 'Market' option below it.

  • Now enter the quantity of the Crypto you would like to purchase, in the 'Quantity' section.

  • The estimated cost for the Crypto you have chosen will be presented in Canadian Dollars.

  • Please verify the information you entered is correct, as once the order is placed, it cannot be cancelled.

  • If all the information is correct, click 'Place Order'

  • Your transaction will then be submitted for fulfillment.

Q3. How to place a SELL transaction- Limit Order

  • Go to the 'Trade' page

  • Click on the CAD-BTC drop down option on the left hand side, to select from one of the base currencies available- CAD, BTC, ETH, USDT

  • Now search and select the digital currency (Crypto) that you wish to sell

  • On the Order Form- Select the 'Sell' action, then select the 'Limit' option below it.

  • Now enter the 'ASK Price'. The is the price you would like to sell the Crypto for, keeping in mind that the current 'Ask Price' (located above the Market Chart), is what the Crypto is selling for on the market, at that moment.

  • Now enter the quantity of the Crypto you would like to sell at that rate, in the 'Quantity' section.

  • Displayed in the 'Total Bid' section is the estimated amount you will receive in CAD/Fiat when selling that Crypto.

  • Please verify the information you entered is correct, and click 'Place Order'.

  • This order will now sit as an 'Open Order', until all the criteria you set for the transaction is met, at which time it will then be fulfilled. All Open Orders, and partially filled orders can be found on your Dashboard, under 'Open Orders', or in the 'Open Orders' tab on the selected Cryptocurrency trade page.

Q4. How to place a SELL transaction- Market Order

  • Go to the 'Trade' page

  • Click on the CAD-BTC drop down option on the left hand side, to select from one of the base currencies available- CAD, BTC, ETH, USDT

  • Now search and select the digital currency (Crypto) that you wish to sell

  • On the Order Form- Select the 'Sell' action, then select the 'Market' option below it.

  • Now enter the quantity of Crypto you would like to sell, in the 'Quantity' section.

  • Displayed in the 'Total Bid' section is the estimated amount you will receive in CAD/Fiat once your Crypto is sold.

  • Please verify the information you entered is correct, as once the order is placed, it cannot be cancelled.

  • If all the information is correct, click 'Place Order'.

  • Your transaction will then be submitted for fulfillment.

Q5. What is the minimum amount of Cryptocurrency that I can purchase per transaction?

  • The minimum amount of Cryptocurrency you can purchase per transaction is $100 Canadian dollar.

Q6. What is my buy limit?

  • Your buy limit is dependent on the amount of funds you hold in your fiat wallet. Keeping in mind that you cannot spend to the penny, so give or take a few dollars.

Q7. How do I cancel a buy or sell transaction?

  • You CANNOT cancel a Buy or Sell- Market Order transaction, once you have submitted your trading request for fulfillment.

  • You CAN cancel a Buy or Sell- Limit Order transaction, as long as the transaction has not been filled, and is in the "open" status. All Open orders, or partially filled orders, can be found on your Dashboard, under the 'Open Orders' section, or on the selected Cryptocurrency trade page, under the 'Open Orders' tab. Just click on the word 'Cancel" and your transaction will be cancelled.

Q8. Why was my order rejected? Why did my transaction fail?

When an order is rejected or a transaction fails, a member of our Customer Care Team will email you advising you of the error, that caused your transaction to fail or be rejected, providing you with assistance on how to fix the error.
